In this election Nydia M. Velazquez came in first with 89% of the vote which amounted to 56,593 votes. Jose Luis Fernandez came in second and obtained 9% of the vote which amounted to 5,713 votes. Other candidates included Allan E. Romaguera who obtained 2% of the vote which amounted to 1,398 votes. The total non-write-in votes in this election were 63,704.
